Flemingate Development to Improve Town |

The £120m regeneration of a derelict site in the centre of Beverley has been approved by Central Government and has been hailed as a "once in a lifetime opportunity for the town".
The scheme which would create about 640 jobs, would include retail, restaurants, a hotel, cinema, offices, and mixture of housing.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council had approved the plans, but they had to be referred to Central Government for a public enquiry owing to the scale of the scheme.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council leader Stephen Parnaby welcomed the final go ahead; "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to regenerate an important part of Beverley close to the Minster and the development is set to change the face of the town for future generations".
The constium of Wykeland, Quintain Estates and Development and The CP Group is now working on the plans for a detailed planning application that will lead to the first phase of the construction.
Dominic Gibbons of Wykeland commented, "After over four years working with many people and organisations in Beverley who want to see this brownfield site transformed, we are delighted to receive this positive decision from the Secretary of State"
